COST OF COVID-19 TESTING CHARGES AT INTERNATIONAL ENTRY POINT AND MINISTRY OF HEALTH, MALAYSIA (MOH) FACILITY

Please find a circular from MOH dated 9 July 2020 (Ref: (16) KKM.400-9/1/3 JLD.15) on the Regulations for Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Fee for Testing of Tracing Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) 2020 which has been enforced on 29 June 2020.

With the enforcement of the regulations, any citizens or foreigners entering Malaysia have to pay a fee for COVID-19 testing before getting immigration approval to enter at the various entry points to Malaysia. In addition, any citizen or foreigners applying for the COVID-19 testing at MOH facilities will be charged as per the following fees:

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) RM150 RM250
Rapid Antigen Test RM60 RM120
Rapid Antibody Test RM30 RM60

 

The testing for COVID-19 at international entry points and MOH entry points will utilise the PCR test or the Rapid Antigen Test depending on current suitability. The Rapid Antigen Test and the Rapid Antibody Test will be administered on those individuals placed under supervision and observation at home on the 13th day before they are considered for release on the 14th day.

However, the following will be exempted from the said charges namely:

  1. Government officers returning to Malaysia after official duty who can produced the official letter on the said assignment as evidence. This exemption will not apply to the family members of the said officer;
  2. Disabled people entering Malaysia from overseas have to present the disabled people card issued by the Social Welfare Department. This exemption will not apply to the disabled family members; and
  3. Students with Malaysian citizenship, private or sponsored by the Government or private sector entering Malaysia from overseas for the first time. Students have to show proof of studies to get the exemption.

Currently, the holder of United Nation High Commissioner of Refugee (UNHCR) Card are given 50% discount on charges for outpatient treatment in hospitals and third class warding at MOH facilities. However for the COVID-19 screening test, the holder of the UNHCR Card will have to pay in full and there will be no 50% discount.
