Expansion of Sales & Services Tax (SST) Scope & Stamp Duty Compliance
We are pleased to inform you that the Finance Committee is organizing a seminar on Expansion of Sales & Services Tax (SST) Scope & Stamp Duty Compliance.
The Ministry of Finance has announced that from 1 July 2025, the Sales and Service Tax (SST) expansion will take effect, bringing in new taxable services, goods, and compliance obligations that will directly impact contractors, developers, suppliers, and service providers in the construction sector. These changes will affect your project costing, supplier contracts, and client invoicing and could lead to unexpected tax exposures if not managed early.
Then, from 1 January 2026, the stamp duty self-assessment regime will begin in phases where the responsibility for determining, declaring, and paying stamp duty is entirely onto duty payers. This move, coupled with IRBM’s stamp duty audit framework, means agreements, contracts, and property-related documents will face heightened scrutiny. Errors could result in costly penalties.
