MBAM FEBRUARY 2026 WEBSITE MESSAGE
As we usher in the Year of the Horse, I extend my warmest greetings to the MBAM family. In this auspicious year, the Horse symbolizes the strength, resilience, and speed we must embody as we gallop forward to meet our national aspirations. This year also marks the commencement of the 13th Malaysia Plan, a pivotal chapter for our nation’s development. The construction industry continues to stand as the backbone of Malaysia’s economic and social progress.
MBAM strongly encourages all members to embrace technological advancements to mitigate labour shortages and enhance productivity. In an environment of rising costs, innovation remains our strongest defence. Furthermore, with the introduction of the Carbon Tax in 2026, sustainability is a core business requirement. Contractors who lead in ESG practices today will undoubtedly be the preferred partners for the prestigious global tenders of tomorrow.
4th February 2025 also marks a meaningful milestone for the Association with the launch of the MBAM Anthem “We Build A Dream” during MBAM Chinese New Year Celebration 2026. The video song, about 3 minutes and 33 secs in duration, was launched on the auspicious day of ‘Li Chun’ a Chinese festival to celebrate the arrival of spring: signalling renewal, balance and fresh starts, as it ushers in the Year of the Fire Horse. A lion dance troupe with five agile lions prancing artfully around added to the festive mood. YB Dato Haji Yusuf bin Haji Abdul Wahab, Construction Industry Development Board Chairman was the Guest of Honour among the guests present.
This project to have an anthem for MBAM was born from a vision to create something timeless, a song that reflects our mission and our unwavering commitment to the industry. While I completed the initial lyrics to capture our spirit as the “Prime Mover and Recognised Voice of the Construction Industry”, at last over the past year we have truly brought the anthem to life. This anthem is about continuity and unity, while buildings may age and leadership will change, these values will now be preserved in a form that can be felt and remembered for generations. I would like to take this opportunity to express MBAM’s gratitude to our Honorary Life President and Past President Dato’ Ng Kee Leen for his RM1 million donation to the MBAM Building Fund. Our congratulatory plaque says it all: “Genuine generosity would last for generations”. Thank you, Dato’ Ng.
Regarding our professional resources, MBJ Issue 137 introduces a new column penned by yours truly focusing on Contracts & Practice (C&P) to provide practical insights into contemporary contractual challenges. MBAM remains steadfast in advocating for a fair business ecosystem where risks are shared equitably and innovation is duly rewarded.
As we navigate this new regulatory landscape, let us move forward with the stamina and courage of the Fire Horse. I wish all our members a year of swift success and robust growth as we continue to build the future of Malaysia together.
I wish you all a year of instant success and robust growth. Let us build the future of Malaysia together
