HRDC TRAINING GRANT PROCEDURES: NEW MATURITY PERIODS AND APPLICATION RULES EFFECTIVE 15 JUNE 2026
The Human Resource Development Corporation (HRDC) has announced new procedures governing training grants and application approvals. Members are advised to take note of the following key points: –
- Training Types and Maturity Periods: HRDC distinguish between two categories of training:
- In house training, conducted for a single company and its subsidiaries, will carry a maturity period of 14 days.
- Public training, which involves participants from different companies and is most relevant to MBAM members, currently carries a three‑day maturity period. Effective 1 January 2027, all seminars, whether in‑house or public training, will be subjected to a 14‑day maturity period. Employer must secure grant approval at least 14 days before the seminar date.
- Beginning 15 June 2026, stricter criteria will apply to all grant applications: –
- Only one query is allowed. Employer must response within five (5) days, otherwise the application will be void.
- Employers no longer may amend approved grants; corrections require cancellation and resubmission. No appeals will be accepted once a grant is approved.
To secure HRDC claims under the new framework, members are urged to plan and register promptly once seminar registration opens, avoiding last‑minute submissions. Early preparation is vital to meet the 14‑day maturity requirement and ensure a smooth grant process.
