ANNOUNCEMENT OF OFFICE BEARERS FOLLOWING MBAM 68TH AGM: MR OLIVER WEE HIANG CHYN ELECTED AS NEW MBAM PRESIDENT FOR TERM JUNE 2022-JUNE 2024
Kuala Lumpur, 25 June 2022 – Mr Oliver Wee Hiang Chyn, Director of Business Development, Tim Sekata Sdn. Bhd. has been elected as the new President of Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM) with effect from 25 June 2022, succeeding Tan Sri Sufri Haji Mhd Zin. The 68th MBAM Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on 25 June 2022 where 26 Council Members were elected followed by the election of MBAM Principal Office Bearers at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre also on 25 June 2022.
Mr Oliver Wee Hiang Chyn brings to the position a wealth of knowledge and experience in the Malaysian construction industry with close to 40 years of working experience in the construction industry. He has been serving MBAM in various capacities and an active MBAM Council Member since year 1993. Wee has been a tireless champion of contractors’ rights during his many years involvement with MBAM and has organized many educational events for the benefit of contractors and sub-contractors, as well as has been an active representative voice of contractors in industry initiatives such as the promulgation of the Construction Industry Payment Adjudication Act (CIPAA) and standard form of contracts. In the past 25 years, Wee has actively served in the construction industry, instrumental in conceptualizing the series of successful contract administration training since 2014. In 2018, under Mr Oliver Wee Hiang Chyn’s leadership, MBAM has set up the mediation service to serve the members on resolving their contractual disputes. He is the current Vice Chairman, International Federation of Asian & Western Pacific Contractors Association (IFAWPCA) Conditions of Contracts Committee and he is also the Ambassador of IFAWPCA to International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC).
Mr Oliver Wee Hiang Chyn who is honoured and humbled by the appointment said, “The challenges in the construction industry is very different today from what it was over 6 decades ago. However, I am confident that with the strong support of all MBAM Council Members elected attending here, MBAM can continue to be the guiding light of our construction industry”.

- Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM) was founded in 1954 and it has since grown close to 17,000 direct and indirect members comprising of corporations, affiliated associations and associated industry companies in the construction industry.
