CONDITIONS OF THE OPERATION FOR CERTAIN MANUFACTURING SECTORS UNDER THE MOVEMENT CONTROL ORDER FROM 18 TO 31 MARCH 2020
As we all know, the Government has announced the Movement Control Order (MCO) with effect from 18 to 31 March 2020. The MCO aims to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 from becoming more serious and widespread. However, to reduce the disruption to the supply chain, particularly food and other critical needs, the Government through MITI has held a trade engagement session with the industry, and other stakeholders to consider of the approval to allow certain operations sectors of the manufacturing industry which has been identified as critical.
Thus, in line with the Government’s decision announced by the National Security Council Malaysia (NSC) on 18 March 2020, the Government has agreed to provide exemptions to certain operating sectors that produce essential products to continue its operation for the period of 18 to 31 March 2020. The list of such sectors are listed in Appendix A. However, companies that want to operate must comply with the requirements set by Government as listed in Appendix B.
To ensure that only qualified companies operate during this MCO period, the relevant Industry Association / Chamber of Commerce is requested to inform its members to apply via online as follows:

- For permission to place the manufacturing equipment in standby: https://www.miti.gov.my/index.php/forms/form/143 (Appendix D)

The Government would like to emphasize that this approval can be revoked and withdrawn if the conditions imposed by the industry are not complied with. In addition, if the Government needs to ensure that local supply is adequate, companies will need to comply with these directives.
