Survey on the National Sustainability Reporting Framework (NSRF)

 

On 24th September 2024, the Ministry of Finance launched the National Sustainability Reporting Framework (NSRF). The NSRF is meant to ensure corporate Malaysia provides consistent, comparable and reliable sustainability information to enhance Malaysia’s competitiveness and attractiveness to investors.

 

Listed companies on Bursa Malaysia’s Main Market and ACE Market, as well as large non-listed companies with annual revenue of RM2 billion and above, will have to comply with the NSRF in phases:

 

  • Large-listed issuers on the Main Market with market capitalisation of RM2 billion and above will begin using the ISSB Standards in 2025 (Group 1);
  • This will extend to other Main Market listed issuers in 2026 (Group 2), followed by;
  • Listed issuers on the ACE Market as well as large NLCos in 2027 (Group 3).

 

In view of this new requirement, MBAM Environment, Green Technology and Sustainability Committee will be having an engagement session with Bursa Malaysia on 13 November 2024 to raise the concern of the construction industry on the difficulty in complying the new sustainability reporting standards. This engagement session also give the opportunity to the construction industry to provide their feedback on the NSRF.

 

Before the committee meet Bursa Malaysia, the committee would like to collect feedback and suggestion from MBAM members regarding the newly launched NSFR.
