SURVEY ON ACT 446 REQUIREMENT IN FACING THIS CHALLENGING TIME DURING MOVEMENT CONTROL ORDER (MCO)

Referring to the Media Statement by the Ministry of Works (KKR) on 12 January 2021 on the Implementation of the “Critical Construction Work Can Continue Throughout MCO” and to ensure the continuity of the construction sector, exceptions was also granted by the government to Building Construction Works; whereby for projects which provide fully-equipped accommodation for workers at construction sites; or for workers who are placed in Centralised Labour Quarters (CLQ), and employers need to provide transportation for workers from the CLQ to the construction site and back. Both accommodations at the construction site and the CLQ must comply with Act 446 (Workers’ Minimum Standards of Housing and Amenities 1990).

Further to this we are conducting this survey among members on Act 446 requirement in facing this challenging time during MCO. Please complete the survey through http://bit.ly/2XGwV0N by 20 January 2021.

Enclosed are the media statement by Ministry of Works (KKR), Act 446 (Workers’ Minimum Standards of Housing and Amenities Act 1990), and the FAQ on Act 446 by JTK for your reference.

We appreciate and value your constructive suggestions, comments and feedbacks for improvement.
