font-size: 31px; color: #000000;\"><strong>NOTICE ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF JBPM GUIDELINES ON AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER SYSTEM INSTALLATION FOR HIGH-RISE RESIDENTIAL UNITS<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We wish to inform that the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM), via a circular dated <strong>24 April 2026<\/strong>, has issued a directive outlining the design requirements for the installation of automatic sprinkler systems in high-rise residential buildings (apartments and flats).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This directive is <strong>effective from 26 January 2026<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Scope of Application<\/strong><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The guideline applies <strong>only to individual residential units<\/strong> within apartments or flats.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Common areas<\/strong> (e.g., corridors, lobbies and shared facilities) shall continue to comply with existing fire safety requirements and remain subject to JBPM approval.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Requirements Based on Unit Size<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>a) Units \u2264 70 m\u00b2<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Installation of sprinkler systems is required only in the main living area.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">One (1)<strong> cut-off sprinkler head <\/strong>shall be provided at the<strong> main entrance <\/strong>of the unit.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>b) Units &gt;
